Hoops & Health Returns for Its Second Year in Montgomery
The free 2‑on‑2 basketball tournament known as Hoops & Health will make its comeback on June 27 in Montgomery, building on the momentum of its inaugural edition and once again turning the city’s courts into a celebration of sport and well‑being.
Organized by The Gift of Life Foundation and Fathers in Action, the event is designed to champion men's health and strengthen family well‑being across the community, using the universal language of basketball to reach a broad audience.
Open to players aged 13 and up, the tournament welcomes teams of two who can register at no cost, with cash prizes awaiting the winning squads and a competitive spirit that encourages camaraderie and healthy rivalry.
Beyond the competition, the day will feature on‑site health screenings, a blood‑drive, a lineup of food vendors, and a variety of giveaways for attendees, turning the event into a comprehensive community health fair.
Wellness and Community Resources
Health and wellness vendors, community resources, fatherhood engagement programs, and family‑focused activities will also be part of the festivities, transforming the court into a hub of holistic support that extends far beyond the game itself.
The initiative is sponsored by Montgomery District 8 City Councilman Glenn Pruitt, who has highlighted the importance of combining sport with wellness outreach to address health disparities and foster stronger neighborhood ties.
