Hope College’s women’s hockey program held its inaugural camp at the Holland Ice Arena in 2023, marking the first full season of organized play for the team. The Professional Women’s Hockey League’s expansion to Detroit, adding its ninth franchise, has amplified hopes for clearer pathways to the professional ranks. Players such as Mandee Cassis now speak openly about targeting pro contracts, while others like Marti Obry, who moved from casual play to a deeper commitment, aim to inspire teammates and the broader community.
Beyond on‑ice development, the program fosters a sense of belonging and community service, encouraging participants to give back locally while chasing elite ambitions.
