James Armstrong, the standout quarterback from Hopewell High School, announced his commitment to Penn State University on Wednesday, selecting the Nittany Lions over a slate of elite programs that included Pitt, Georgia, Auburn and Kentucky.

During his sophomore campaign, Armstrong threw for more than 2,000 yards, 21 touchdowns and only three interceptions, completing roughly 60 percent of his passes, a performance that placed him among the most efficient signal‑callers in the state.
What ultimately swayed the recruit was the atmosphere at Penn State and the steady guidance of coach Terry Smith, whose reputation for developing talent resonated strongly with the young player.
