A Strategic Commitment for the Red Raiders
Hunter Haug, a four-star athlete ranked as the No. 4 prospect at his position and No. 112 overall in the 2027 class, announced his decision to join Texas Tech after completing a series of official visits.
A native of Spring Branch, Texas, Haug brings a blend of speed and playmaking ability, having amassed 2,053 all-purpose yards and 16 touchdowns in high school while also excelling in track and field.
His recruitment was marked by offers from several Power Four programs, with Oklahoma State securing his first scholarship and hosting him on June 9, TCU extending an offer on April 29 and welcoming him on May 29, and Arkansas, the sole SEC program on his final list, hosting him on June 4.
Ultimately, Haug selected Texas Tech over Oklahoma State, TCU and Arkansas, a choice that underscores the program’s growing appeal within the state.
The commitment adds to a class that already includes ten pledges from Texas prospects, three of whom are four-star defensive backs, reinforcing the Red Raiders’ strategy of building depth through in-state talent.
