Early Sunday morning, a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Aidan T. Doss veered off Lee County Road 95 near Gregory Glen Road, striking a tree just two miles north of Auburn. Emergency responders arrived at the scene around 12:14 a.m., but Doss was pronounced dead on arrival after being ejected from the vehicle because he was not wearing a seat belt.
A Community in Mourning
Doss, a native of Kimberly, Alabama, had recently earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Huntingdon College, capping a four‑year tenure on the Hawks football team. His graduation ceremony, held just days before the crash, was attended by teammates, faculty, and friends who celebrated his dedication on and off the field.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency confirmed the investigation into the crash is ongoing, but early reports indicate that excessive speed and the lack of a seat belt were contributing factors. Local authorities have urged drivers to exercise caution, especially on rural roadways during early morning hours.
Huntingdon College President Dr. Anthony Leigh released a statement describing Doss as a young man with a "servant and hospitable heart," emphasizing how his presence will be deeply missed by students, staff, and alumni alike.
