Community Welcomes Huskies for Scavenger Hunt
On Saturday, July 18, the University of Washington football squad will descend on Friday Harbor for a townwide scavenger hunt that blends sport, community spirit and local exploration. The gathering is set for 10:30 a.m. in Sunken Park, where the team will meet residents and kick off the day's activities.
Twelve teams of Huskies will fan out across twelve iconic spots, from the bustling farmers market and the historic port to museums, boutique shops and popular eateries, each stop punctuated by a basketball 3‑point contest that pits players against town talent.
Mayor's Vision for Connection
Mayor Evan Perrollaz expressed enthusiasm about showcasing the island’s charm, saying the event offers a unique chance to highlight Friday Harbor’s character while fostering connections between visitors and residents.
UW Football Senior Director of Player Engagement Syndric Steptoe hopes the hunt will give players a genuine taste of island life, encouraging them to interact with locals and create memorable moments beyond the field.
