A Dual Commitment to Academics and Athletics
Ian Doyle, a multi‑sport standout from Jonesville, Michigan, has signed his letter of intent to join Trine University in Indiana, where he will pursue a degree in engineering while playing Division III football for the Thunder.
Doyle’s high school career was marked by versatility. He excelled on the gridiron, the baseball diamond, and the basketball court, earning all‑league and all‑area honors for his performances.
During his senior year, the football team posted a 6‑3 record and secured a playoff berth, with Doyle contributing heavily on both offense and defense. He finished second on the squad in all‑purpose yards and total tackles, a testament to his impact on every snap.
Beyond football, Doyle helped the baseball team reach the regional finals and was a key member of the basketball squad that captured a district championship, showcasing the same drive that defined his athletic journey.
Coach Frank Keller praised Doyle’s adaptability and work ethic, noting that the young man’s ability to thrive in multiple roles will serve him well at Trine. “He’s the kind of player who makes everyone around him better,” Keller said.
Matthew Keith, a teammate and close friend, echoed the sentiment, recalling the camaraderie that defined Doyle’s time at Jonesville and expressing excitement for what lies ahead.
Doyle cited Trine’s strong engineering program and state‑of‑the‑art athletic facilities as decisive factors in his choice, while also expressing gratitude to his family, coaches, and teammates for their unwavering support.
Reflecting on his high school years, Doyle highlighted the bonds forged with teammates as some of his most cherished memories, underscoring the importance of community in his development.
