Ian Korn’s name now appears on two of the most prestigious lists in college baseball. The West Virginia graduate pitcher was selected to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America second team, capping a senior year that combined a flawless 4.0 GPA with a dominant performance on the mound.
Korn’s academic distinction is not new. He earned Academic All-American honors for the second straight season, joining an elite group of only five Mountaineers who have achieved this feat in program history. His master’s degree in executive sport management underscores a commitment that extends far beyond the baseball diamond.
On the field, Korn was nothing short of spectacular. He finished the season with a 6‑1 record, a 3.39 earned run average and 70 strikeouts across 79.2 innings. Those numbers helped the Mountaineers secure their first-ever College World Series berth, a milestone that has eluded the program since its inception.
