IBEW Local 1105 Donates $450,000 to Expand Youth Baseball and Softball Facilities in Tri-Valley

The contribution will fund safety upgrades and equipment at Frew Park and Kenny Wolford Community Park, supporting hundreds of young athletes across the region.

The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1105, headquartered in Nashport, Ohio, has announced a $450,000 donation to the Tri-Valley Youth Baseball League and Tri-Valley Youth Softball League. The contribution is intended to upgrade playing fields and equipment for hundreds of young athletes in the region.

Of the total amount, $200,000 is earmarked for the baseball league, while $250,000 will go to the softball league. The funds will be used to replace fencing, install new lighting and signage, rebuild dugouts and batting cages, and purchase an in‑field groomer for routine maintenance.

The upgrades will be implemented at Frew Park in Frazeysburg and Kenny Wolford Community Park in Dresden, facilities that currently host approximately 330 youth baseball participants and more than 150 seventh‑ and eighth‑grade softball players.

A Community‑Focused Investment

Bill Hamilton, business manager of IBEW 1105, emphasized that the donation reflects the union’s long‑standing commitment to giving back to the communities where its members live and work. "Our members understand the importance of safe, well‑maintained recreational spaces for our children," Hamilton said in a statement.

The planned improvements aim to enhance both safety and playability, ensuring that the parks can support sustained community recreation for years to come. Local officials anticipate that the upgrades will also create a more inviting environment for families and volunteers who help sustain the leagues.

The investment underscores a growing trend of labor organizations partnering with youth sports programs to foster healthy development and community cohesion. By addressing infrastructure needs directly, the donation helps remove a critical barrier that often limits program expansion.
