Ilija Milijašević Joins Wright State Raiders Ahead of 2025‑26 Season

The Serbian guard brings international experience and shooting prowess to the Raiders’ roster.

Wright State University’s men’s basketball program has announced the addition of Ilija Milijašević, a 6‑2 guard whose international résumé includes stints in the NCAA, the Adriatic League and the Serbian youth national teams.

Coach Clint Sargent emphasized that Milijašević’s hunger, humility and competitive mindset fit the Raiders’ culture as the team prepares for the upcoming 2025‑26 season.

A Global Skill Set

Milijašević first caught attention in the United States while playing for DePaul, where he logged 7.5 minutes per game and shot 35.7 % from beyond the arc.

In the 2024‑25 campaign he recorded 40 three‑pointers on 89 attempts for Mega Superbet, and he exploded for 17 points and five treys against Budućnost in the playoffs.

His shooting touch earned him a place on Serbia’s U20 roster for the 2024 FIBA U20 EuroBasket, where he averaged 12.4 points and 3.7 assists per game.

Beyond the college circuit, Milijašević contributed to Serbia’s bronze‑medal finish at the 2022 U18 European Championship, showcasing his ability to perform on the continental stage.

The guard’s professional background also includes a season in the Adriatic League, where he refined his playmaking and defensive skills against seasoned opponents.

Sargent noted that the new recruit brings a blend of experience and youthful energy that could bolster the Raiders’ backcourt depth.

With nine newcomers already shaping the roster, Milijašević is expected to compete for a larger role, especially in situations that demand perimeter shooting and ball distribution.

The coaching staff believes his international exposure will also aid the team’s chemistry, offering a fresh perspective and a winning mentality inherited from Serbian basketball traditions.
