Championship Outlook
The Indian Valley Braves snapped a six-game skid in dramatic fashion, posting a 7-4 victory over John Glenn in a Division IV district semifinal on Tuesday night.
The early going saw the Braves strike first, plating four runs in the opening two innings, but the Muskies answered with a rally in the fourth that cut the deficit to three. A burst of five unearned runs in the fifth stretched the lead to 7-0 before the opposition mounted a comeback, scoring four unanswered runs to narrow the margin to 7-4.
Head coach Dusty Braun praised the squad’s perseverance, telling them to trust their own abilities and stay focused on the task at hand. "We’ve been through a lot lately, but the guys showed they can fight when it matters most," Braun said after the win.
Reliever Ryker Williams entered in the later innings and shut the door, preserving the lead as the Braves held on for the victory. Earlier, Deagan Beaber had worked 5.1 innings, striking out five and limiting the opposition to six hits.
The Braves now turn their attention to the district championship game, scheduled for 1 p.m. on May 29 in Minerva, where they will meet Richmond Edison. The team will look to carry the momentum forward as they chase a title.
