Indiana University has revealed the three athletes who will wear the captain's armband for the 2026 field hockey campaign, selecting senior forward Mijntje Hagen, senior midfielder Javi Baeza and senior defender Inés Garcia Prado.
Leadership lineup for the upcoming season
Garcia Prado arrives as a fourth‑year standout who earned NFHCA All‑American honors in 2025 and has been recognized three times on both the All‑Big Ten and All‑Region teams, underscoring her consistent excellence.
Hagen, also a fourth‑year player, added to her résumé with All‑Big Ten and All‑Region selections in 2025 and now aims to translate that success into a leadership role as the team's forward.
Baeza, another senior contributor, started every one of the 18 games in 2025 and recorded four assists, positioning him as a key playmaker who will help orchestrate the offense.
Head coach Kayla Bashore praised the trio for their on‑field impact and off‑field influence, noting that their experience will be vital as the Hoosiers seek to build on recent progress and compete at the highest level of collegiate hockey.
The captains will guide a roster that blends seasoned veterans with emerging talent, fostering a culture of accountability and ambition as the team prepares for a challenging schedule that includes marquee matchups across the nation.
