The Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) is set to crown its state baseball champions this weekend at Victory Field in Indianapolis, bringing together the state’s most promising high school talent.
Standout Hitters
Among the batters, Northeast Dubois’ Sam Beck leads the pack with a .470 average, 35 RBIs and 14 stolen bases, while Bluffton’s Axton Beste isn’t far behind at .463 with 29 RBIs and eight home runs.
Guerin Catholic’s Ben Canada continues to impress at .378 with 33 RBIs and 17 doubles, and Kouts’ Billy Miller is batting a staggering .489 with 39 RBIs and 27 stolen bases.
Pitching Excellence
On the mound, Evansville Mater Dei’s Darret Branson has been nearly untouchable, allowing just one earned run with 12 strikeouts over 8 ⅔ innings, while Lake Central’s Owen Kopercinski sits at 6‑0 with a 2.56 ERA and 46 strikeouts in 54 innings.
Ian Taylor of Guerin Catholic is also making noise, posting a 1.24 ERA and 88 strikeouts over 51 innings, and Kaden Maxwell of Andrean has thrown two shutouts this postseason, fanning 17 batters in 17 innings.
The tournament schedule features a slate of matchups that will determine the finalists, with games spread across Saturday and Sunday. Fans can expect a high‑energy atmosphere as each team vies for the coveted state title.
