From Pilot to Statewide Movement
The surge has been powered by athletes, coaches, school administrators and local communities who embraced the sport, organized leagues, and created pathways for competition. More than 100 high schools across the Hoosier state now field teams, turning what was once an experimental program into a mainstream offering.
NFL Backing the Growth
The Indianapolis Colts and their partners have amplified the momentum with a series of high‑visibility events. A surprise visit from All‑Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner to Lawrence North High School, a $1 million commitment from the Colts and the Jim Irsay Family, and collaborations with players such as DeForest Buckner and Zaire Franklin have brought national attention to the initiative.
Voices of the Game
Head coach Shane Steichen, star running back Jonathan Taylor, wide receiver Josh Downs, defensive end Alec Pierce and defensive back JuJu Brents have each spoken about the importance of providing role models and opportunities for young women.
