Indiana’s men’s basketball squad returned from Peru with a resounding gold medal, having downed the Virgin Islands 99-57 in the championship game of the FISU America Games held in Lima.
Commanding Performance
The Hoosiers posted a 441-196 aggregate score across six contests, translating to an average margin of victory of 61.3 points, a gap that no opponent managed to close within 40 points.
Beyond the scoreboard, the tour served a strategic purpose: unlimited practice time and the chance to forge chemistry before the official preseason began.
Building Momentum
Early in the final, Indiana surged to a 25-8 lead after the first quarter, extended the advantage to 52-23 at halftime, and maintained a comfortable 69-43 edge after three periods.
In the fourth quarter the team added a 30-14 burst, sealing the win and underscoring the depth of the roster.
Scoring was spread across the lineup, with Bryce Lindsay leading the way with 17 points, while Trevor Manhertz contributed 15, Darren Harris 13, and both Aiden Sherrell and Sam Alexis chipped in 10 each.
The performance also featured contributions from Prince-Alexander Moody, Jaeden Mustaf, Trent Sisley, Vaughn Karvala and Markus Burton, each seeing action in the tournament.
