Indiana University’s men’s basketball squad is set to don the colors of the United States at the upcoming FISU America Games in Lima, Peru, a competition that will run from July 20 through August 1 and showcase fifteen different sports.
The Hoosiers will open group play against the host nation on July 21 at 6 p.m. Eastern Time, before meeting the Virgin Islands on July 23 at the same hour, with the knockout phase kicking off on July 25.
Guided by a new coaching vision
Head coach Darian DeVries, who took the reins of the Indiana program last season, will lead a roster that blends experienced transfers with promising newcomers. The squad features players such as Markus Burton, Darren Harris, Bryce Linday, Jaeden Mustaf, Justin Monden, Aiden Sherrell, Trent Sisley, Vaughn Karvala, Trevor Manhertz, Prince‑Alexander Moody and Clemens Sokolov, each hoping to make an impact on the international stage.
The participation marks a continuation of Indiana’s recent rise under DeVries, a tenure that began with a strong finish to the previous campaign and has generated optimism about the team’s trajectory.
Beyond the on‑court action, the games will be broadcast live on YouTube, giving fans around the world a chance to follow every dunk and defensive stop in real time.
The tournament also carries historical weight. The International University Sports Federation, founded in 1949, created the FISU America Games to broaden the reach of university athletics across the continent, and UniUSA serves as the official representative body for the United States in the competition.
With the eyes of the university community and beyond on the event, the Hoosiers hope to translate their domestic success into a memorable performance in Peru.
