Guided by Coach Dan Petroff, the team turned a promising regular season into a postseason powerhouse, dropping five straight shutouts before the state semifinals.
In the semifinal against Archbishop Wood, the Indians faced an early two‑run deficit, but a rally in the fifth inning tied the game, and an eight‑run sixth inning blew the contest open. Charlie Manzi’s bat shone, delivering a double and three RBIs while also pitching 4.2 innings with five strikeouts.
The final showdown at Penn State
The following day at Medlar Field at Penn State, the Indians turned the championship game into a showcase of power and precision. Manzi collected three hits, including a double, a home run and three RBIs, while Sully Vanhoose added a hit and two RBIs. Ethan Shank contributed a timely RBI single.
Brady Oakes went 2 for 3 with a pair of RBIs, and Dylan Shank chipped in two hits and an RBI. The final score sealed a 22‑4 season that will be remembered for its dominant pitching, timely hitting and the steady hand of Coach Dan Petroff.
