A Promising Start
Indiana University’s men’s soccer program enters the 2026 season ranked No. 22 in the United Soccer Coaches preseason poll, a respectable position that reflects the team’s recent progress.
The Big Ten coaches poll places the Hoosiers third in the conference, trailing only Washington and Maryland, underscoring the competitive nature of the league.
The season will open on Thursday with a home matchup against Notre Dame at Bill Armstrong Stadium, kicking off at 8 p.m. Eastern Time and setting the tone for a schedule that promises several high‑profile contests.
Coach Todd Yeagley’s staff has assembled a blend of experience and fresh talent, bringing in 13 newcomers from the transfer portal and freshman class while retaining 17 veterans who have logged at least two seasons of collegiate play.
Leadership and Recruitment
Alex Barger and Josh Maher have been named captains, providing on‑field guidance and a steady presence for a squad that features eight players identified by Top Drawer Soccer as proven NCAA Tournament contributors.
Among the newcomers, Stephane Njike stands out after being listed No. 6 on the Top Drawer Soccer Top 100 prospects, earning a spot on the Big Ten’s Players to Watch list, while Collins Oduro’s preseason ranking climbed from No. 84 to No. 57, reflecting his rapid development.
Oliver Moller‑Jensen also appears on the preseason Top 100 at No. 85, adding depth to a roster that blends seasoned contributors with promising newcomers.
With a mix of veteran leadership, strategic recruitment, and a favorable preseason outlook, the Hoosiers hope to translate early promise into a successful campaign within the Big Ten and beyond.
