Indiana State Baseball Earns National Academic Honor
The Indiana State Sycamores baseball squad has been celebrated for its outstanding performance both on the diamond and in the classroom, capturing the 2025-26 American Baseball Coaches Association Team Academic Excellence Award.
The award, which honors programs with a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, underscores the team's commitment to scholarly achievement during the 2025-26 academic year.
With a precise cumulative GPA of 3.527, the Sycamores ranked among the elite group of 800 high school and college baseball programs nationwide that met the criteria for this distinction.
This year's cohort includes nearly 500 college programs and more than 320 high school teams, reflecting a growing emphasis on academic excellence across the sport.
To be eligible, a program must operate under a current ABCA member head coach and demonstrate sustained academic performance throughout the academic year.
A Tradition of Recognizing Excellence
The ABCA has a long-standing reputation for honoring both coaches and student‑athletes who exemplify leadership, ethics, and competitive spirit. Its awards program, founded in 1949, includes the prestigious ABCA Hall of Fame and the Dave Keilitz Ethics in Coaching Award, among others.
The association's recognition of academic achievement complements its broader mission to promote integrity and excellence within baseball, reinforcing the sport's commitment to developing well‑rounded individuals.
