Baseball‑Themed Festivities
The 2026 Indiana State Fair opened its gates on Friday under the banner ‘Always a Hit’, a celebration that leans heavily on the fair’s new partnership with the Indianapolis Indians baseball team.
Organizers have rolled out a suite of family‑friendly experiences, among them a Wiffle Ball Court, Calf Cuddles, Feed Tortoises, Little Hands on the Farm and a Rewind Experience that lets guests step back into the fair’s storied past.
Infrastructure improvements are also evident, with Gate 6 receiving a fresh renovation and the main entertainment stage being expanded to host larger acts without sacrificing sightlines.
The weekend lineup promises a mix of music and competition: Friday night brings free concerts by The Spinners and Four Tops, Saturday features a street‑dance showdown, and Sunday culminates with a livestock showcase that includes a novelty Wiffle Ball competition.
Visitors are urged to consult the daily online schedule and to arrive early, especially as temperatures rise and crowds gather, to make the most of the festivities.
A long‑standing tradition will continue throughout the fair’s run, as 4‑H participants receive purple ribbons for grand‑prize achievements in agriculture and youth projects.
