A historic season fuels demand
Indiana University is preparing to enlarge the student section at Memorial Stadium, a move driven by a surge in ticket demand after the Hoosiers’ recent on‑field breakthroughs.
The school has already sold 11,000 student tickets and plans to add as many as 5,000 more, which would push the section toward 16,000 seats — roughly 30 percent of the venue’s total capacity.
A 93 percent renewal rate among current season‑ticket holders and more than 9,000 new season‑ticket purchases signal record‑level interest, according to associate athletic director Jeremy Gray.
Gray said the sales spike reflects a growing football culture at IU and the program’s goal of reaching the College Football Playoff for a third consecutive year.
The upcoming schedule features a Big Ten opener against Northwestern on Sept. 25, a clash with Ohio State on Oct. 17 and a matchup with Southern Cal on Nov. 14, before the season finale against Purdue for the Old Oaken Bucket on Nov. 28.
The expansion underscores the university’s ambition to translate recent success into sustained fan investment and a stronger presence in the national conversation.
