Indonesia's Basketball For Good Takes Center Stage at FIBA Open 2026
The upcoming FIBA Open 2026 will be held at the Patrick Baumann House of Basketball in Mies, Switzerland, on 20 and 21 June, bringing together national teams and fans for a celebration of the sport.
Indonesia's Basketball For Good program, known locally as Hoops For Health, will be featured as part of the event's effort to spotlight grassroots initiatives that use basketball as a tool for social change.
The program focuses on combating non‑communicable diseases in remote parts of the Indonesian archipelago, reaching youth on several islands and providing them with coaching education and health awareness.
Sarah Nicolina Gagola, who serves as the Basketball For Good Manager at FIBA Indonesia, will lead the delegation that showcases the country's accomplishments and the tangible impact of its community‑based projects.
Funds raised during the tournament will be directed toward expanding Hoops For Health and other social‑impact activities worldwide, reinforcing the FIBA Foundation's commitment to empower and educate young people through basketball.
The visibility offered by the FIBA Open creates a platform for Southeast Asian basketball development, highlighting the region's potential and encouraging further investment in grassroots programs.
