After a two‑year pause, indoor soccer is making a comeback in Olympia, Washington, as the city prepares to open its new Oly Arena this fall.
A New Home for Indoor Soccer
The state‑of‑the‑art facility, situated off Center Street, will serve players of every age, offering co‑ed adult leagues, separate men’s and women’s divisions, and youth programs that run through the winter months.
Registration for the upcoming season opens on September 21, giving families and adult players a chance to sign up for the various leagues that will be staged under the arena’s heated roof.
Ahead of the season, the Artesian men’s and women’s squads will hold tryouts on September 22 and 24 for the men, and October 29 and 31 for the women, providing a pathway for local talent to compete in the Western Indoor Soccer League.
The excitement is amplified by a fundraising tournament scheduled for September 19‑20, hosted jointly by FC Olympia and the Artesians, featuring the Austin Kelley Cup Awards across all divisions.
Proceeds from the event are earmarked for the installation of new artificial turf and replacement of indoor soccer nets, ensuring a safe and high‑quality playing surface for all participants.
Ryan Perkins, club president, emphasized that the new venue is more than a sports complex; it is a community hub that will foster engagement, create jobs, and provide a sustainable space for the sport to grow.
Beyond the tournament, organizers are seeking additional community contributions to fully fund the turf project, a move that promises to benefit every team that steps onto the arena’s polished floor.
