Indy Fuel Bolsters Roster Ahead of 2026-27 Season with Three New Signings

Veteran defenseman Anthony Petruzzelli and emerging talents Kyle Aucoin and Michael Marchesan aim to strengthen the team's defensive core

The Indianapolis-based Indy Fuel have announced a trio of signings that could reshape their defensive lineup for the upcoming 2026‑27 campaign. The moves come as the club looks to build on a promising recent stretch and add depth to a blue‑line that has shown steady improvement.

A Returning Scholar‑Athlete

Kyle Aucoin, 24, is returning to the Fuel after a brief stint in the previous season, having appeared in four regular‑season games and five playoff contests. The defenseman brings more than just on‑ice experience; he earned a Distinguished Scholar‑Athlete nod in the NCHC and previously balanced his hockey career with studies at Harvard University before a season at Miami University.

Playoff‑Tested Leadership

Michael Marchesan, 25, joined the organization in April after being claimed off waivers from the Atlanta Gladiators. In his first season with the Fuel he posted 13 points and contributed 88 penalty minutes, while his prior experience includes 111 games with Atlanta and a standout run with the Danbury Hat Tricks, where he helped capture the FPHL Commissioner’s Cup and was named playoff MVP.

Veteran Presence and Alternate Captaincy

Anthony Petruzzelli, 33, arrives via trade and has already logged 48 games for Indy, contributing 21 points and 26 penalty minutes. A veteran of six seasons with the Fort Wayne Komets and a former captain, Petruzzelli also earned a brief call‑up to the Chicago Wolves of the AHL in 2019‑20. Over the past two seasons he has tallied 40 points in 117 games and was named an alternate captain, underscoring his leadership qualities.

Together, the three acquisitions blend youthful promise with seasoned poise, positioning the Fuel to compete more aggressively in the league and to mentor younger talent as the roster moves forward.
