The Indy Fuel announced this week that they have re‑signed Will Ennis, a 26‑year‑old defenseman, for the upcoming 2026‑27 campaign. The move comes as the club looks to build on a promising recent performance and add depth to its blue‑line.
A Familiar Face Returns
Ennis logged 63 games for the Fuel last season, contributing four points — one goal and three assists — while accumulating 22 penalty minutes. His defensive reliability and willingness to block shots have made him a regular fixture in the lineup.
College and OHL Journey
Prior to his professional stint, Ennis spent four years at the University of Windsor, where he recorded 42 points (8 goals, 34 assists) in 97 appearances. He then moved to the Ontario Hockey League’s Oshawa Generals, where he tallied 41 points (8 goals, 33 assists) over four seasons and served as an alternate captain in his final year.
The defenseman’s achievements extend beyond the scoresheet. He captured the Indy Fuel’s top defenseman award in 2018‑19 and was a finalist for the 2019‑20 OHL Roger Neilson Memorial Award, recognizing him as the league’s premier academic post‑secondary player.
With a blend of on‑ice grit and academic excellence, Ennis is expected to bring stability and leadership to the Fuel’s defensive corps as the team prepares for the next season.
