A Weekly Tradition Revived
The popular coaches' show that once filled the stands at Joe Aillet Stadium is back for the 2026 season, this time hosted inside the bustling Rotolo's Craft & Crust in Ruston. Each Thursday evening, from September through December, fans can gather in person to hear Louisiana Tech's head coach Sonny Cumbie and the 'Voice of the Bulldogs' Kyle Schassburger discuss the team, answer questions and share the latest behind‑the‑scenes stories.
The format blends live studio segments with on‑site appearances from assistant coaches, staff members and student‑athletes who rotate through the set throughout the semester. The show is designed to be more than a broadcast; it is an experience that includes prize giveaways, interactive fan segments and a points‑earning opportunity for Louisiana Tech students through the Blue Bloods Loyal Blue Points program.
Schedule, Broadcasts and Production Details
Shows run from September 3 to December 3, meeting each Thursday at 6 p.m. for a full hour, with breaks for Thanksgiving and any basketball schedule conflicts. Special editions on November 4 and November 11 will spotlight additional Louisiana Tech teams and personalities, while the December 3 broadcast will only air if the Bulldogs secure bowl eligibility or host the Sun Belt Conference Championship Game.
Fans who cannot attend in person can still tune in via radio on KNBB 97.7 FM in Ruston or KDBS 94.7 FM/1410 AM in Alexandria, and through the LA Tech Athletics app. Long‑time sideline reporter Jerry Byrd returns for his fifth season, statistician Bennie Thornell, a 1968 alumnus, marks his 41st season with the program, and engineer Elton Taylor, a 2014‑16 graduate, begins his ninth season behind the scenes.
The Louisiana Tech Sports Network also provides pregame and postgame coverage on game days, ensuring that the Bulldog experience extends beyond the studio. With a blend of live interaction, historic expertise and modern broadcasting platforms, the revived show promises to deepen the connection between the team and its statewide fan base.
