The league has confirmed that the LA Galaxy held discovery rights to the player and that Miami will compensate the Galaxy for those rights.
The investigation adds a layer of complexity to a transfer that was already notable for its financial implications. In 2021, Inter Miami faced league sanctions after being found in violation of salary‑cap regulations, resulting in a fine and the suspension of several staff members.
Casemiro, 34, arrives after a distinguished spell at Manchester United, where he contributed nine goals in 33 appearances and helped the side win the UEFA Champions League five times during his tenure at Real Madrid. His arrival is expected to bolster the midfield and provide a veteran presence as the team looks to contend in the Eastern Conference.
The club's first match after the World Cup break will be against the Chicago Fire, a game that will also mark the debut of Polish striker Robert Lewandowski for the Fire.
