The University of Iowa field hockey team delivered a commanding 8-0 victory over Ball State, preserving a clean sheet and demonstrating the offensive depth that has carried them through the early part of the season.
Senior forward Dionne van Aalsum and junior Frédérique van Cleef each recorded hat tricks, contributing 7 and 8 goals respectively, and together they have amassed 15 goals this season, underscoring their pivotal role in the Hawkeyes' success.
Early in the first quarter, van Aalsum opened the scoring at 2:11, and the lead continued to grow as Reine van Hoof added a goal assisted by Emily Edwards, while Téa Fortpied, Rachel Herbine and Amber Millard-Smith combined for a penalty‑corner conversion that extended the advantage to 4-0 before halftime.

The Hawkeyes will now travel to Evanston, Illinois, for a Friday night matchup against Miami (Ohio) at 11:30 a.m. CT, a contest that will be streamed live on B1G+.
