A milestone for Kinnick Stadium
The upcoming September 12 showdown between the Iowa Hawkeyes and their longtime rivals Iowa State has already filled every seat inside Kinnick Stadium, marking the third time the Cy‑Hawk rivalry will be contested under primetime lights in Iowa City.
Iowa’s athletics department confirmed the sellout on Thursday, noting that single‑game tickets were first offered to donors on Monday and then opened to the general public Thursday morning.
The game is slated for a 6:30 p.m. Central time kickoff and will be broadcast on NBC, underscoring its growing national profile and the excitement surrounding the rivalry.
The sellout adds to a remarkable streak: it is the 28th consecutive home game the Hawkeyes have sold out since the 2022 season, a testament to the program’s consistent demand among fans.
While the opener against Northern Illinois on September 5 still has about 1,750 tickets left, other non‑conference matchups such as the September 19 game versus UNI, the October 3 contest with Ohio State, the Homecoming game against Wisconsin on October 31, the November 14 showdown with Purdue, and the November 27 finale against Nebraska each retain a few thousand seats.
Fans eager to attend any of these games can still purchase tickets through the university’s ticket office, with prices and availability varying by opponent.
