The Iowa Hawkeyes will travel to Sioux City on November 10 to face the Virginia Tech Hokies at the Tyson Events Center, marking the first time the Hawkeyes have played a game in that western Iowa venue.
A Milestone in Sioux City
Coach Ben McCollum described the matchup as part of a deliberate effort to schedule neutral‑site contests against Power Conference opponents, noting that only three such games are slated for the season.
The game will be the fifth meeting between the two programs since 2017, and it underscores Virginia Tech’s early dominance, having won all four previous encounters, three of which were played in Blacksburg.
Looking Ahead to the Nonconference Slate
Iowa’s schedule also includes a November 15 showdown with Creighton and a December 21 clash with Alabama, both set to take place in Des Moines, adding further intrigue to the Hawkeyes’ out‑of‑conference lineup.
Tickets for the Sioux City contest go on sale June 26 at 10 a.m. Central Time, while the television designation and start time will be announced in the coming weeks.
Implications for Both Programs
The neutral‑site arrangement not only provides a fresh venue for fans in western Iowa but also offers Virginia Tech a chance to extend its winning streak in a setting that could influence future scheduling decisions for both schools.
