Iowa Hawkeyes Shift Athletic Events to Cooler Times Amid Heatwave

Cross‑country, field hockey and soccer contests moved to morning slots while football remains unchanged

Heatwave Prompts Schedule Changes

The University of Iowa announced that several of its athletic events will be moved to earlier times on Friday, Saturday and Sunday because of forecasted high temperatures across the state.

The Hawkeye Invite cross‑country meet, set for Friday morning, will open at 8 a.m. Central Time with the women's 4,000‑meter race, followed shortly by the men's 6,000‑meter race at roughly 8:30 a.m.

Iowa field hockey's contest against Lehigh has been shifted to an 11:30 a.m. start, and the neutral‑site game between Lehigh and Ball State on Saturday will also begin at 11:30 a.m.

On Sunday, the Hawkeyes' field hockey matchup with Ball State is slated for 11:30 a.m., while the soccer game against Missouri State is scheduled to kick off at noon.

The football game against Northern Illinois remains on its original schedule, with a 3:16 p.m. kickoff, showing that only the daytime events have been adjusted to avoid the peak heat.
