Season Opens with Power Rankings
The 2026 Iowa high school baseball season is now underway, and the latest power rankings have sparked early conversations among coaches, players and fans.
High School On SI and the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association each released their respective Top 25 and class‑by‑class Top 10 lists, giving a snapshot of the teams that are expected to contend for state titles.
In Class 4A, Sioux City East sits at the apex of the rankings, positioning the Blackhawks as the team to beat as the regular season progresses.
Class 3A sees MOC‑Floyd Valley leading the pack, while Pleasantville, the reigning champions in Class 2A, continue to carry the momentum of their recent title.
Meanwhile, Martensdale‑St. Marys has claimed the top spot in Class 1A, rounding out a diverse set of leaders across the four divisions.
State Tournament Schedule
The state tournaments will be held in two distinct locations, with Cedar Rapids hosting the Class 4A and 3A championships and Carroll hosting the Class 2A and 1A events.
Both tournaments are set to run from July 20 through July 24, offering a concentrated showcase of talent as teams vie for the ultimate prize.
