A Unique Charity Experience
On Saturday, June 12, 2027, Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City will open its gates for the Iowa Ladies' Football Academy: Wave Edition, a one‑time charity event that invites women to experience the world of Hawkeye football from the inside.
The program is organized by University of Iowa Head Football Coach Kirk Ferentz in partnership with the Iowa football team, uniting a storied coaching legacy with a fresh, inclusive outreach effort.
Attendees will enjoy exclusive access, including coaching sessions with current players, a walkthrough of the visiting locker room, and the thrill of running onto the field to the iconic “Back in Black” chant, followed by a celebratory Wave that honors the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at UI Health Care Stead Family Children's Hospital.
Participation carries a $100 registration fee and a mandatory $750 fundraising commitment, with every dollar raised funneled directly to the NICU, underscoring the event’s dual focus on community engagement and medical support.
Beyond the football immersion, the Academy seeks to empower women through a shared appreciation of Iowa’s athletic traditions while generating essential resources for the hospital’s youngest patients, reinforcing the lasting impact of the Wave celebration.
