Iowa Speedway's $14 Million Revamp Ahead of 2027 NASCAR Return
Iowa Speedway is committing $14 million to a full repaving of its 20‑year‑old asphalt, with the work slated for completion by November 2026, just in time for the 2027 NASCAR Cup Series race scheduled for the July 4 weekend.
The project follows a partial resurfacing in 2024 that drew mixed reactions, prompting IndyCar drivers to skip the 2026 event and raising questions about the venue’s future.
Alongside the track work, the speedway plans to upgrade fan amenities, including improvements to suites and the Newton Club, while removing the concert stage on the northwest side to free space for camping spots and activation areas for partners.
Funding for the broader $19 million renovation comes primarily from NASCAR and the France family, underscoring a renewed partnership that aims to keep Iowa Speedway on the Cup Series calendar and preserve its role as a Midwest racing destination.
