Iowa State Cyclones head coach Jimmy Rogers has turned his attention to Chris Wilson, a highly rated edge defender from Indiana, as part of the program’s push for the 2027 recruiting class.
Wilson, a 6‑foot‑5, 235‑pound prospect from Yorktown High School, has drawn interest from a host of Power Five programs, amassing 14 offers across the nation.
The Cyclones will host Wilson on May 28, followed by visits to Cincinnati on June 5, Purdue on June 12, and a final trip to Auburn on June 19, a schedule that underscores the competitive nature of his recruitment.
A Recruiting Battle in the Heartland
While Auburn currently leads the race for Wilson’s commitment, the coaching staff remains optimistic that a strong relationship with the Indiana standout could tip the balance in Ames.
Ranked No. 278 nationally and No. 25 among edge players by the 247Sports Composite, Wilson also holds the No. 3 spot in Indiana with a 91.09 rating, reflecting his elite status among regional prospects.
Adding Wilson to the Cyclones’ incoming class would represent a marquee acquisition, bolstering the defensive line and signaling a continued upward trajectory for the program.
Wilson’s recruitment also brings him into contact with other Big Ten and SEC programs, including Wisconsin, Purdue, and West Virginia, each of which has expressed interest in the versatile defender.
