Roster Reinforcements
As the Baseball Canada Men’s National Championships draw nearer, the Chatham Miramichi Honda Ironmen and the Charlottetown Gaudet’s Auto Body Islanders are sharpening their squads with fresh talent from the province’s senior circuit.
The Ironmen have secured outfielders Demitri Shakotko and Corey Wood, infielders Connor Hill and Craig Oliver, and a pair of pitchers — Colby Lyle and Brandon Hillier — who previously wore the colors of the Fredericton Simpson Royals and other regional clubs.
Meanwhile, the Islanders have bolstered their roster with infielder Justin Cormier of the Moncton Dixie Lee Mets, pitcher Haden Dow of the Saint John AJ’s Alpines, infielder Max Grant of the Fredericton Simpson Royals, and pitcher Cam Stewart of the Saint John Doiron Sports Alpines, while also welcoming former Ironmen player Jack Kraft.
Both announcements were made public on August 10 through a Facebook post, underscoring the teams’ reliance on local talent to defend their titles and to compete at the national level.
The moves reflect a strategic effort to tap into the depth of New Brunswick’s baseball community, a pool that has already proven its mettle as the reigning champions of the league.
