Isaac Johnson, a 25‑year‑old former collegiate midfielder, has been tapped to lead the Lady Jays soccer program in Jefferson City, a appointment that awaits final school board approval.
A fresh direction for the program
Johnson, who celebrated his birthday on July 1, says he is eager to prove himself and reshape the team’s identity. He plans to implement an attack‑heavy style of play while preserving a solid defensive foundation.
The new head coach will continue to work with Bryan Blitz, the recently hired boys’ coach, and has indicated that the two will exchange roles as assistants in the coming seasons, fostering a collaborative environment across both programs.
He will succeed Scott Blake, who retired after more than two decades of service to the district, a transition that district officials highlighted alongside the hiring of Andrew Marjamaa as band director.
Because of the MSHSAA dead period, which runs from August 1 through August 7, Johnson has not yet met his new players, but he remains optimistic about the upcoming season.
In the meantime, he is assembling the rest of his coaching staff, a process he describes as both challenging and exciting.
