A Rising Star in Alabama
Isaac McNeil, a 6‑foot‑2, 210‑pound linebacker from Vigor High School in Alabama, is quickly becoming one of the most talked‑about prospects in the 2027 class. His blend of size, speed and instincts has turned heads across the country.
Coach Renardo Jackson has compared McNeil’s playing style to that of recent Crimson Tide star Deontae Lawson, highlighting a knack for disrupting offenses and covering ground in a way that mirrors Lawson’s impact at Alabama.
Recruiting Landscape
During his junior season he logged 92 tackles, 16 tackles for loss and nine sacks, numbers that have propelled him to the No. 111 overall prospect ranking nationally and the eighth‑best linebacker spot according to 247Sports' composite list.
The buzz has attracted a suite of powerhouse programs, including Alabama, Georgia, Auburn and Florida. Each school has assigned dedicated recruiters — such as Alabama’s linebackers coach Chuck Morrell — to stay in close contact with McNeil and his family.
Curtis Maye, the Vigor recruiting coordinator, had predicted McNeil’s breakout before the statistics even materialized, underscoring the early excitement surrounding the player. Off the field, McNeil says he is looking for a program that can clearly articulate the role he would play in its defense, a factor that could ultimately shape his decision.
