Isaac Wendler, a standout baseball player from Father McGivney High School, brought his four‑year varsity career to a close with a series of performances that will remain etched in the program’s history.
During his senior season he batted .444, drove in 48 runs and hit eight home runs, matching the school’s single‑season record. The production helped the Griffins finish the year with a 136‑21 overall mark and a runner‑up finish at the Class 1A state tournament.
Wendler’s consistency was evident long before his final year, as he posted batting averages of .395 as a freshman, .357 as a sophomore and .402 as a junior. Across his career he amassed 165 hits and 17 home runs, positioning himself as the program’s all‑time leader in those categories.
Beyond the plate, Wendler contributed on the mound with a 12‑1 record and earned All‑State honors while being named small‑school MVP. Coach Chris Erwin praised his humility and work ethic, noting that Wendler’s impact extended far beyond statistics.
