A Commitment Shaped by Camp Impressions
Isaiah Friese, a senior standout from New Ulm High School, has officially committed to the University of North Dakota Fighting Hawks football program, bringing a blend of size and ambition to the roster.
Standing 6‑foot‑5 and weighing 265 pounds, Friese attracted the attention of UND coaches during a summer camp at the University of Minnesota, where he participated in drills and interviews that highlighted his work ethic.
Following a strong performance, the university extended a scholarship, and the lineman said the opportunity to develop under the program’s nutrition and weight‑training resources, with a goal of reaching 300 pounds, sealed his decision.
His high school coach, Derek Lieser, praised the player’s relentless dedication, noting that Friese’s steady improvement over the years has been matched by a commitment to community service projects championed by the university.
Friese hopes to use his platform to mentor younger athletes, aspiring to become an All‑State offensive lineman while embodying the values of hard work and self‑belief that have defined his journey.
The commitment reflects a broader trend of regional talent seeking programs that blend athletic development with personal growth, a narrative that resonates with fans and alumni alike.
