Isaiah Harris Set to Rejoin UNK Football in 2026 After NCAA Waiver

The former All‑MIAA running back aims to bolster the Lopers' backfield after a season‑ending injury.

Isaiah Harris, a former All‑MIAA running back, will be back on the University of Nebraska Kearney roster in 2026 after the NCAA granted him a waiver to resume play. His return follows a season‑ending knee injury sustained in the third quarter against Washburn during the 2024 campaign.

Before the injury Harris had compiled 89 carries for 698 yards and six touchdowns, adding five receptions for 34 yards. He began his college career at Nebraska in 2020, transferred to UNK in the spring of 2024, and posted 825 yards and eight scores in the fall of that year. At Millard South High School he rushed for 3,468 yards and 52 touchdowns between 2016 and 2019.

A deep backfield

The Lopers enter the upcoming season with a crowded backfield, featuring senior Stone Wilson, junior Quincey Ryker, and sophomores Ty Cozad and Jayvin Norman. Harris is expected to compete for a starting role and provide a versatile option both on the ground and in the passing game.

Fall camp for UNK kicks off on August 3, and the team will open its season on August 27 at Cope Stadium against Wayne State. Coaches have expressed confidence that Harris’s experience and previous production will help shape a dynamic offense.
