A new recruit on the rise
Isaiah Reed, a versatile linebacker and running back, announced his commitment to Texas State on Tuesday, securing a spot in the 2027 recruiting class. The pledge comes as the Bobcats continue to reshape their roster ahead of a pivotal move to the Pac‑12 conference.
Ranked 73rd among linebacker prospects nationwide and 114th in Texas by 247Sports' composite ratings, Reed brings a blend of size, speed, and football IQ that coaches say could fill multiple roles on the defensive front and in the backfield.
During his sophomore season at Class 4A Hamshire‑Fannett, Reed logged 494 rushing yards and seven touchdowns while also contributing 40 total tackles and three tackles for loss. His ability to impact the game on both sides of the ball made him a standout in a district that has produced several Division I prospects.
Reed becomes the fourth addition to a class that currently sits at No. 91 in the national rankings. The group already includes Lakeyleon Graves, a four‑star recruit who helped the Bobcats achieve their first top‑100 finish in recent memory.
The commitment underscores Texas State's upward trajectory. After a historic 2026 recruiting cycle that delivered the program's first four‑star signee, the team captured its third consecutive bowl victory in 2025 and now prepares to open the 2025 season against the Texas Longhorns on September 5.
Beyond the field, Reed's pledge reflects a broader ambition to elevate the program's profile as it transitions into a new conference landscape. The Bobcats hope his versatility will help them compete more aggressively in the Pac‑12, a move scheduled to take effect on July 1.
