Islanders Secure Luff on Two‑Way Deal
The New York Islanders announced Tuesday that they have signed forward Matt Luff to a one‑year, two‑way contract, a move that bolsters the team’s depth as they prepare for the upcoming season.
Luff, 29, arrives from Oakville, Ontario, where he spent the previous campaign with the Bridgeport Islanders, the AHL affiliate of the Islanders. In 20 regular‑season games he posted 13 points, earning a spot on the AHL All‑Star team and ranking third on the club with 45 points in 50 games.
The forward’s professional journey includes stints with the St. Louis Blues and their AHL counterpart, the Springfield Thunderbirds, as well as 111 NHL appearances across four teams, during which he accumulated 28 points.
Across the AHL, Luff has logged 341 games and amassed 264 points, underscoring his consistency as a reliable scorer in the minor leagues.
General Manager Lou Lamoriello praised the addition, stating that Luff’s work ethic and versatility will provide valuable depth both at the NHL level and in the minors.
