The 2026 Isle of Wight Secondary Schools Basketball season reached its climax with five different schools hoisting championship trophies across age‑group divisions, while a record 244 young athletes contested the five tournaments hosted by Carisbrooke College.
Five titles, five stories
Carisbrooke College’s Year 7 squad remained unbeaten throughout the campaign, sealing the championship with a dominant display that underscored their consistency.
In the Year 8 category, Cowes Enterprise College captured their first title since 2022 after a tense shoot‑out that kept spectators on the edge of their seats.
The Bay’s Year 9 team staged a remarkable turnaround, overcoming a four‑point deficit against Carisbrooke to snatch the championship in the final minutes.
Priory School’s Year 11 side also added to the excitement, defeating Christ the King in a closely fought final to claim their second title in recent years.
Christ the King’s Year 10 team completed the sweep of narratives by winning a nail‑biting shoot‑out against Ryde School, securing their fourth title in the past few seasons.
Statistical dominance
While Carisbrooke College topped the overall performance points chart, The Bay emerged as the statistical powerhouse, boasting a 68 percent win rate and 162 cumulative points since 2022.
Tournament organisers took the opportunity to thank the Isle of Wight Basketball Board and its official, Tim Brown, for their continued support and coordination of the event.
