Caleb Wandell, a junior punter for Ithaca College, was crowned the nation’s top punter by D3football.com after a standout performance at Johns Hopkins on September 8, 2026.
National Accolade for Ithaca’s Junior Punter
His work featured a 45.0‑yard average per punt and a single boot that traveled 72 yards, the second‑longest in program history.
The effort came during a 30‑21 defeat for the Bombers, in which two of Wandell’s punts landed inside the 20‑yard line and the opposing team was unable to return any of his kicks.
This is Wandell’s sixth appearance on the D3football.com Team of the Week, a streak that places him among the 66 athletes Ithaca College has produced since the award began in 1999.
Ithaca College’s reputation for developing nationally recognized talent is reinforced by the fact that at least one player has earned Team of the Week honors in 26 of the 28 years the distinction has been announced.
The recognition underscores the college’s continued success in nurturing elite athletes who excel on the national stage.
