Inside the Hoosiers' Summer Session
The Daily Hoosier was on hand at the Indiana University practice facility in Bloomington last week, where the men’s basketball squad ran through a series of drills that underscored both the team’s depth and its emerging chemistry. Among the standouts was transfer forward Bryce Lindsay, who arrived from Villanova with a reputation for sharp shooting and versatile defense.
Lindsay’s early workouts revealed a smooth release from beyond the arc, a trait that coaches say could stretch opposing defenses and open driving lanes for guards like Markus Burton. Burton, now in his sophomore season, displayed a knack for dissecting tight defenses, using quick first steps and precise passing to create opportunities for teammates.
Veteran big men Trent Sisley and Prince‑Alexander Moody also made noticeable strides, each showing improved footwork and decision‑making that could bolster the frontcourt rotation. Their progress was complemented by a group of supporting players — including Aiden Sherrell, Samet Yigitoglu, Jaeden Mustaf, Clemens Sokolov, Justin Monden, Ben Winker and Drew Snively — who contributed energy and rebounding throughout the session.
Coaches emphasized that the squad’s health remains a priority, noting that the players appear fully fit as they gear up for a public exhibition game scheduled for July 15. That event will serve as a final tune‑up before the team boards a flight to Peru, where they will compete in the FISU Americas Games later this month.
The upcoming South American stint adds an international dimension to the Hoosiers’ preparation, offering a chance to test new strategies against diverse styles of play. With a blend of experienced returnees and promising newcomers, Indiana’s basketball program looks poised to carry its summer momentum into the fall season.
