Indiana University’s defensive front is set to regain two of its most promising linemen as Stephen Daley and Kellan Wyatt move closer to full health. Both players were sidelined by knee injuries during the 2025 season, with Wyatt’s setback occurring in October and Daley’s in December, just after the Hoosiers captured the Big Ten Championship.
A timely boost for the Hoosiers' defense
Coach Curt Cignetti has been vocal about the pair’s recovery, stating that Daley will be cleared for 11‑on‑11 repetitions in the upcoming practice session, while Wyatt remains a step behind but is expected to be ready shortly thereafter. Their return comes after both athletes secured additional eligibility through recent court rulings, allowing them to finish their collegiate careers despite the injuries that truncated their 2025 campaigns.
The Hoosiers already possessed a deep defensive roster, highlighted by Daniel Ndukwe’s playoff performance and a wave of new talent arriving from Notre Dame and Kansas State. Transfers Tyrique Tucker, Mario Landino, and Joe Hjelle are also slated to reinforce the interior line, giving the team multiple options for rotation and depth.
Defensive coordinator Bryant Haines will oversee the integration of Daley and Wyatt into the scheme, with Haines noting that Wyatt’s experience could translate into versatility at the linebacker position within the team’s 12‑personnel packages.
