Ivan Jurić appointed as Monza head coach
Monza’s rapid ascent from Serie B to the Serie A playoffs culminated in a decisive victory that secured their return to the top flight, prompting the club’s board to seek a manager with proven pedigree and tactical acumen.
On Wednesday, the club announced that Ivan Jurić will assume the role of head coach, signing a contract that begins immediately ahead of the upcoming season. The appointment follows the mutual departure of Paolo Bianco, who stepped down after guiding the Lombardy side through the promotion campaign.
Jurić brings a wealth of Serie A experience, having previously managed Atalanta, Genoa, Hellas Verona, Torino and Roma. His tenure at Atalanta ended in November, after which he sought new challenges, ultimately landing at Monza.
Beyond his domestic résumé, Jurić also spent a season in the Premier League with Southampton, where he adapted his tactical approach to a different style of play, further enriching his coaching profile.
The club’s sporting director highlighted Jurić’s familiarity with Italian football culture and his ability to integrate young talent with seasoned professionals, expressing confidence that the coach can stabilise the squad and aim for a competitive debut season.
