The International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) announced this week that it has renewed its partnership with Swiss watchmaker Tissot, extending the collaboration through the end of 2026. The extension ensures Tissot’s continued presence as the Official Timekeeper of IWBF competitions and as the Presenting Partner of the Tissot MVP Award, a role the brand has held since 2022.
Under the agreement, Tissot will be visible at the upcoming Men’s and Women’s Repechage Tournaments in Spain and Thailand this June, as well as at the Zonal Championships across the Americas, Asia‑Oceania and Europe that precede the 2026 IWBF World Championships in Ottawa, Canada, scheduled for September.
Ulf Mehrens, President of IWBF, expressed his pleasure at continuing the relationship with Tissot, noting that the Swiss brand has brought precision to timekeeping and global credibility to wheelchair basketball.
Global Impact of the Renewal
Sylvain Dolla, CEO of Tissot, added that the renewal reflects the strength and unity of the basketball community worldwide, underscoring the shared commitment to elevate the sport.
FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis highlighted that the extension strengthens ties within the broader FIBA Family, reinforcing the interconnected growth of basketball across all its disciplines.
Beyond the technical aspects, the collaboration aims to increase visibility for the sport, providing a platform for the world’s top wheelchair basketball athletes to showcase their talent on an international stage.
