A Life of Service and Victory
Jack Clark, the former head basketball coach at Lake Highlands High School, died at the age of 82, leaving behind a legacy that spanned education, athletics, and community service.
Over a multi‑decade career, Clark wore many hats at Lake Highlands, serving as a history teacher, a football and basketball coach, and eventually as senior class principal. His teams captured six district championships, and he was honored as Coach of the Year on six occasions, a testament to his strategic acumen and dedication.
Clark’s early years were rooted in St. Louis, Missouri, where he was born and later earned a basketball scholarship to John Brown University, an institution that would later be noted as part of his educational journey.
After completing his studies, he answered the call of duty, serving in the United States Navy from 1965 to 1969. During his service, he worked as an electrician on F‑4B Phantom jets, a role that demanded the same problem‑solving precision he later applied on the sidelines.
Colleagues and neighbors alike recalled Clark’s reputation as a natural mediator; some even referred to him affectionately as the “Mayor of Parkhurst Circle.” His final administrative post was as principal at Flower Mound High School, where the auditorium bears his and his wife Donna’s names in recognition of their contributions.
Celebration of Life
A celebration of Clark’s life is scheduled for June 27 at the Jack and Donna Clark Auditorium at Flower Mound High School. In lieu of flowers, donations are welcomed for a scholarship fund established in his honor through the Lewisville ISD Education Foundation.
